However, there are many details in the leaks that haven’t been shown just yet. While leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, these details may give you a better idea of what the game is than this early trailer.

Treyarch and Raven Software are developing Black Ops 7.
While Treyarch and Raven are leading development, it’s worth noting that almost all dev teams under the Activision umbrella serve to support the CoD behemoth in some way. As a result, it’s likely a wide range of teams are all chipping in, including Sledgehammer Games, Beenox, High Moon Studios, and plenty more.

Black Ops 7 is set in 2035, roughly 10 years after Black Ops 2 and 30 years before Black Ops 3.

It’s also set to be open-world. This hasn’t been officially announced yet, but leaks which accurately revealed that it was co-op and set in Avalon all said it was an open-world campaign with up to four players.

Omnimovement updates
Black Ops 7 has “an evolution of Omnimovement.” We don’t know exactly what this means just yet, but Stephanie Snowden, Senior Director of Communications, confirmed: “No wall-running, no jetpacks.”
Article continues after adThere have been leaks and rumors around Black Ops 7 having wall-jumping, wall-running, and jetpacks, but it’s worth noting that Activision only shut down wall-running and jetpacks, not wall-jumping.
This came from a leak back in October 2024, in which someone claimed to have attended a focus group and shared what they learned. This leak had an “evolution of Omnimovement” (now confirmed), alongside the Wall Jump mechanic, which lets you “leap from surfaces for new ways to engage.”

Round-based Zombies
Round-based Zombies will also be included in CoD 2025. While Treyarch has led the charge on a true round-based mode in Black Ops 6, BO7 follows suit with more round-based action.
We don’t have much official information just yet, but a TranZit remaster is on the cards after we can see the headlights of a bus that looks a lot like the one from the fan-favorite BO2 map. Reports said it’ll include one of the biggest maps in history with a transport system, so it could be the same map.

Insider Gaming reported that it could have six maps throughout the year, and Treyarch are experimenting with some “out there” map ideas including one “set in post-WW2 New York where the Nazis had dropped a nuclear bomb,” and the other at the base of an erupting Japanese volcano. Maps set in Afghanistan, Vietnam, and a space station in the Dark Aether have also reportedly been discussed.
There’s also word that the original Zombies crew will return in some capacity, alongside the return of Outbreak and Dead Ops Arcade.

Gameplay leaks
Remastered Black Ops 2 maps
As a follow-up to Black Ops 2, CoD 2025 is reportedly set to feature iconic multiplayer maps from the original release. Although it’s worth noting the devs have only confirmed “brand-new maps” so far.
Article continues after adWe’ve seen the likes of Raid and Express return in various ways over the years, but if true, this could mark the first time several classics make their way back to the spotlight.

Unlike 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, a game that launched exclusively with remade maps, CoD 2025 could include a mix. “The current plan is to launch with new maps and remastered maps in conjunction,” Insider Gaming reported.
This aligns with earlier claims from CoD insider BobNetwork, who also claimed CoD 2025 will function much like MW3 2023, though just with Black Ops 2 maps being remastered.
The April 2024 leak also claimed some of the maps have a futuristic Japanese theme, so these could be new maps or visual overhauls to BO2’s. The Black Ops 7 reveal trailer showed off some locales that fit this description, so there’s a good chance these leaks are true.
Article continues after adPick 10 Create-A-Class system
One early detail claimed CoD’s popular Pick 10 system could return.
Article continues after adRather than selecting all sorts of attachments, perks, equipment, and the like, the Pick 10 system limited you to just 10 items. Players would have to spend these 10 points picking pieces of equipment, building out weapons with multiple attachments, selecting perks, or balancing the lot. It added a great degree of strategy to the mix, allowing for more niche builds to thrive.
If the earliest rumblings hold true, this familiar system could be back in play for CoD 2025.

The leak from October 2024 also revealed the return of the Uplink mode, Face-Off, and Gunfight modes.
The Body Shield mechanic returns, with the ability to do something and “kick their body towards your enemies.” Plus, there will be “Networked Perks,” which seems to let you share their buffs with your teammates.
For now, that’s the rundown of everything we know currently about Black Ops 7. Though, as always, it’s worth taking this intel with a heaping serve of salt until confirmed by developers.
